The One Sided Mirror

Prepare; propel
Awaken from spells;
As Gecko lied, no goodness of greed,
But the prince and princess whine and plead,
It's all become a part of me,
Here, living; driving my will,
asking me, over and over again
whether I know of this or that,
selling to me the impossible dream
and how to use their credit card
to pay the impossible bill,
a scheme
*
At a litter of lies televised,
*
I laugh and think, how brilliant;
This master plan; Brooks Bros. clad
gangstas and crooks unfolding
to be shown on every station, in every home,
deranging gods and methane politics,
launching a full and methodical diss
on resources and opportunity; our freedom and
Sanctuary,
*
All while we watch the coming abyss,
Falsified furrows of rug-burned brows
and deadpan smiles gleaming with sets of
life-time veneers on sharpened teeth,
promising cheer in friendly commercials
funded by bank fees laid on the waitress,
preyed on the nurses; counselors, and workers,
raping the widows and honest educators,
*
powerlessly, we, the people, paying for
bank bonuses, bait and switch advertising
Even as we're evicted from homes,
And our tax dollars flow to greed with zero fees
for the poorly regulated rescues
of financial institutions like these;
Some on the brink colapse,
but many, bailed out for their frenzied greed,
Solvent banks, with little debt or need for Tarp
Borrowed millions of your hard earned tax dollars
free, free, free; free, free,
Free;
doing no work, gaining millions in interest,
paying the balance like good little thieves,
*
Then more commercials...with kids and kittens,
while cutting millions of in philanthropic spending
from groups they'd been supporting for years,
appearing as fans of the same communities
they are now evicting
*
The greed that needs
A 12 step program,
Three or four 90 day slams; but unlike any other addiction,
All the fun had,
looks more like cash
in today's tell-all, peek-a-boo land,
The users have their drug of choice
With no concern for others, or desire to let go,
There's no way around it,
and and it can't be done alone
*
We'd like to give them a hand,
But man, those commercials are funny as hell,
The perfect distracted in way of harm,
Shrouding names and ironies; connections and truths
and the perfect timing of stories ignored like,
'Iraq, the Blanket Keeping S&L Scandals from You',
Sometimes you gottta laugh at how
It's all so very clever...the powers that woo,
Misconfabulating through distant satellites to
expectant faces from
The one sided mirror,
hoping every home, has an uninformed fool
